The first form of Turku Castle was built in 1280-1310. The water level was three and half meters higher than now in those days, therefore, the castle was located on an island. Construction of the present form began in 1961, and was completed in 1977. Miniatures are displayed in the castle to show the progress of the constructions.

The church in the castle was decorated in 1705-1706. Originally, the room was used as the Great Hall. Two king's chairs were placed in the room in 1775. Also the pulpit is from the 18th century.
 
 

 
There are exhibitions in the castle, including glass and porcelain tableware, jewelry, and various kind of old artifacts. Also numerous rooms illustrating various styles of different centuries are displayed in the castle.
